MY BEST FRIEND IS ENGAGED, YA’LL!
Taylor was literally the reason that I got through college. During my first semester at USF, I was miserable. Literally didn’t do anything except study, run and eat. I wasn’t involved in any organizations and one night I said fuck it and went to an AIChE meeting. There – I met Taylor and we hit it off. Then, college wasn’t so miserable anymore.
The next year Taylor and I moved in together (I sound like this is our engagement story – I swear Matt’s coming into it soon) with my other biffle, Alli! It was a mixture of cooking pretty dope food, hitting up breweries on nights we were supposed to be studying, crying and swearing because college was so hard, having Friendsgiving, skipping class when we could get away with it, planning a massive beer fest fundraiser in Tampa (seriously – check it out – it’s called Sampling Science: The Engineering Behind Craft Beer – we started that shit), making Chipotle runs on the daily, wondering why in the hell we wanted to do this thing called college, and before we knew it, we had graduated and had jobs. It flew by.
Cue Matt – he was also in our chemical engineering classes. And if my memory serves me right, he took her to Chik Fil A one day for her birthday, but in hindsight, it was totally a first date. He was into her. That was well over three years ago. We all got jobs. They bought a house. It was only a matter of time before he popped the question.
One night before Christmas, Taylor and Matt were making ginger bread houses together being cute AF. Spur of the moment, he texts his sister that he’s going to propose to Taylor and she needed to come video it. Matt set up the ring in his gingerbread house and asked Taylor to see what was inside his house and if she would marry him #SheSaidYes.
Doing their engagement session was not an option. It was happening. Not only because Taylor is my biffle, but also because she is a performing aerialist, which basically means I can have them do alllllllll the stunts. The first thing that came to mind was the Dirty Dancing run and jump scene, which we did 15 times. Matt was seriously a trooper for putting up with all this, but deep down, I think he wanted to nail it, too. So we headed to the beach in Vero Beach to capture some serious sunrise golden hour magic.
Of course, I’m a huge fan of getting my couples into the water because it makes amazing photos. I was thinking we would just go knee deep, but Matt definitely had other plans!
